President Uhuru Kenyatta on issued a firm stand on the fight against corruption, saying for the country to succeed, impunity must be tackled, “For the country to succeed we must fight against corruption.” Addressing congregants at the Faith Evangelistic Ministry church, President Kenyatta said he has lost friends in the recent weeks, in the light of the ongoing NEMA demolitions. “I’ve been receiving many calls with people asking how can I watch all this destruction going on. I said it’s difficult to stop not because we love to destroy but we must fight impunity,” he said.
He said a failure to fight impunity will impede the dreams of Kenyans, adding that power, position and status won’t deter the war against graft, “Time has come for us to fight impunity, for every Kenyan to realize no matter how powerful you think you are, no matter how much you think you know people in high positions, no matter how much money you have, it won’t save you,” he said.
