President Uhuru Kenyatta has pledged Kshs 22 million to the completion of a construction of a Medical Training College in Bumula. While addressing residents during a campaign trip in the area, President Kenyatta said the MTC is vital both in the health and education sectors, “We have an MTC here and it’s nearing completion. We want its construction completed so that the youth can study,” he said, adding that the youth will get jobs after the studies. “For that reason, the government has set aside Kshs 22 million for the project.”
This comes after the government said it will release Kshs 500 million to Mumias Sugar Company to cater for farmers’ payments on Monday. “Where were our colleagues when we were doing this development?” posed President Kenyatta.
The president accused opposition leaders of spreading a propaganda-filled message, singling out Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, “Wetangula is your son, let him say what he has done before he comes to claim I’ve messed up,” he said. He said that he doesn’t want to get involved in tribal politics and agendas of hatred, “If you have someone to trade insults with everyday, how will you cater for Kenyans?” he posed, “My target is the country’s development and improving the lives of Kenyans, to ensure we have tackled poverty and youth unemployment.”
President Kenyatta said the only leader from the region who had a clear productive record was the late Kijana Wamalwa, “Our former vice president Kijana Wamalwa was a real man and he delivered. These other leaders, let them show us their track record,” he said. He urged Kenyans to embrace the path of unity and a message which will benefit Kenyans.
