President Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated the national government’s commitment to working with the County government to develop sports and talent. During the presentation of the FIFA World Cup trophy at State House, Nairobi, President Kenyatta noted that the presence of several Governors at the event shows there is a blossoming partnership, “Sports is a devolved function and to see number of Governors here to join us as we celebrate this day and the arrival of the cup is a sign of a partnership between the national and County govern ents in the sports docket,” said President Kenyatta.
The Head of State expressed his gratitude to Coca-Cola and FIFA, for picking Kenya as one of the countries for the cup tour, “It shows considerable partnership, friendship and a growing contribution from our partners in terms of helping us develop sports in this country,” said President Kenyatta.
The World Cup Trophy arrived in the country on Monday, accompanied by FIFA officials, with the next stop being Mozambique. During the two days tour, fans will get a firsthand experience viewing the trophy and will be allowed to take a photo with it. This is the third time the trophy is in the country, and its expected in 51 countries and 91 cities by the time the World Cup games start. The trophy was in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa on 24th and 25th February before arriving in Kenya, on Wednesday the next stop will be Maputo, Mozambique.
