A prominent Malaba Businessman cum politician Robert Emoit Idewa died on Saturday night after his vehicle rammed into a stationery canter at Ikapolok area near Amagoro considered by many as a black spot.
Idewa contested for the Member of the County Assembly, Malaba North Ward seat on Ford Kenya ticket during the August 8, 2017 general elections where he finished fourth.
His business colleague Hassan Wanga said Idewa left Malaba shortly before midnight to drop a colleague in Amagoro, 10km away when he met his death as he was returning to the border town.
Eye witnesses said Idewa’s Corolla Fielder car hit a canter registration number UAK 533T which was on the queue along the busy Northern Corridor.
He was rushed to Kocholia Sub County Hospital before being transferred to Lumboka hospital in Bungoma where he succumbed to injuries.
Malaba residents jammed Malaba Police Station yesterday Sunday 23rd to view the wreckage of the vehicle that took the life of their son.
Teso North OCPD Onesmus Kombe confirmed the death of the businessman saying they have launched investigations into the incident.
Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong sent a message of condolence to the family, relatives and friends of the late Idewa.
The Governor said the cruel hand of death has robbed the County a man who started from a humble beginning to stamp a mark in the economic front.
“He also showed his ambition to venture into politics when he stood for an elective post in 2017 polls,” Ojaamong said.
The late Idewa is the brother to former Malaba North MCA Ichasi Imwene and former nominated MCA Rose Idewa.
