Trans Nzoia County serving governor Patrick Simiyu Khaemba has taken lead with 54.67% against his challenger Mose Kakai Bisau who has 37.7%.
This is according to the provincial results from the IEBC website results.
The voter turn out in the counties of Busia,Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Vihiga and Kakamega counties records atleast over 50% in each country.
Busia county,the incumbent Governor Ojaamong who is believed to be a staunch member of the ODM,takes lead with 69.97% followed by Independent candidate Paul Otuoma who records 45.61%.
In Vihiga county,Wilberforce Khasilwa leads with 42.57% followed by his challenger who is the sitting governor in the county Moses Akaranga who has 32.11%.
Even as the results in different polling centers are being received IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, however, commanded that voters in the affected areas yesterday to be given enough time to exercise their democratic rights including extending the voting period
The affected polling stations included four in Turkana North and four in Central, two in Turkana West, eight in Loima and one in Wajir South constituency.
Chebukati also pointed out that incidences where some finger scanners failed to identify some voters, clerks were relying on the alphanumeric identification option of using ID numbers.
“The robustness of the KIEMS system provides various voter identification options, which have provided voters with a remarkable voting experience,” said Chebukati.
