A teacher from Gisambai Primary School in Hamisi Sub County is recuperating at St Monica Hospital in Kisumu County after the roof of the class he was in tumbled and fell on him. This was due to a heavy downpour experienced in the area.
Mr. Aggrey Kivitu had just released standard four pupils for lunch when it started raining heavily, after a while the strong wind wrecked the roof.
Mr. Francis Kisieka, the School headteacher, said the teacher had serious injuries and he had to be rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment.
“Other teachers were in the staff room and the teacher remained in class, as he was marking the pupils’ assignments,” he said.
He said two classes were damaged, one was the computer class, adding that no computer was damaged.
The head teacher is now calling on the area Member of Parliament Charles Gimose though the CDF kitty to release funds for the repair of the damaged classes.
