Deputy President William Ruto has said money meant for Harambee Stars for the preparations for the game against Ethiopia at the Mois Sports Centre Kasarani on Sunday has been released by the government. Speaking at the venue, DP Ruto said the allowance concerns of the team were communicated to the leaders through the Ministry of Sport, “Though it delayed initially all the money was released by yesterday. A total of Kshs 25 million is now available for you guys to prepare for this match. All other allowances will be paid,” he said.
The Harambee Stars held Ethiopia to a goalless draw on Wednesday at the Bahir Dar Stadium on Wednesday to move them to top of Group F in the Africans Nations Cup qualifier tie, in a group that also has Ghana and Sierra Leone. A win on Sunday would move the Stars a step closer to qualification with the tournament set for 2019 in Cameroon. DP Ruto said if they win on Sunday the government will give the team Kshs 50 million. He also said the team will receive a team bus, “We must have an official team bus for Harambee Stars. I must commit that next month that bus will be available for your use.”
