Lugari ward Member of County Assembly (MCA), Musa wangila Makhapila, has praised Savala and Mufutu primary schools from his ward for making it to this year’s National Music Festivals competition set to be held in Nairobi County this week.
Makhapila made the remark at Mufutu primary on Saturday where he presided over a fundraising ceremony to aid the school meet traveling and accommodation costs for the participants.
He poured praises to staff and pupils of the institutions, saying that the two were among other schools that will represent Lugari Sub County in the national fete at Safaricom Stadium (Kasarani Stadium) in Nairobi County.
“I particularly single out Mufutu primary for making it to the national music festivals on several occasions in the last few years,” said Makhapila who also expressed his joy over Savala primary, new debutants to the national fete.
During the recently concluded Nzoia region musical festivals, Savala primary qualified with one choir item under Class 264, while Mufutu with a Kalenjin traditional dance.
Head teachers of the two schools, Moses Magodi (Savala) and Ben Wanjala (Mufutu) told West Media that they were optimistic that their teams will emerge victorious at the national event.
Besides classroom activity, the MCA urged parents and teachers in his ward to encourage and help children identify and nurture individual talents and interest in co-curricular activity, including sports and art

Kenya music and cultural festivals expose talents that many students in primary and secondary schools as well as colleges possess.
Last year’s winners got the privilege to be hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta in State house.
