Lugari MP Ayub Savula has accused opposition leader Raila Odinga of planning to divide National Super Alliance coalition (NASA). Savula has claimed that Raila is planning to lead his ODM party out of the coalition so that it can field a presidential candidate in the 2022 general elections contrary to the coalition’s Memorandum of Understanding.
According to Savula, the MoU signed by the co-principals stated clearly that ODM will remain in the coalition and will not field a presidential candidate but will support a candidate who will be fronted by the coalition from either Amani National Congress (ANC),
Ford Kenya or Wiper.
The legislator termed the plan by Raila as an act of betrayal to other NASA affiliate parties saying he has an ill intention against the coalition. He said with the current political trend in the country it was a mere dream for a political party like ODM to assume it can pursue the presidential seat on its own.
“What I am asking my friend Raila is to honour the MoU and let ODM remain in NASA, because if we are united we stand a big chance of winning if united we stand a big chance of winning 2022 elections but if we start playing divisive politics and walk away from
the coalition then we will fall despondently,” said Savula.
He reiterated that ANC will remain in NASA and continue selling its manifesto to Kenyans in preparations for the next general elections. “ANC is the brainchild of NASA and we will remain in the coalition and build it to be stronger. Those who are planning to walk away are betrayers,” said Savula.
