Security officers have been engaged in sporting activities in West Pokot, competing in field events to help maintain discipline, service delivery in the forces and embrace dialogue. The law enforcers from Nyakach, Kuria, Lous, Kacheliba, Chepchoina, Turkwel,Sarimach,Kamelei camps participated in athletics at Chewoyet High School in West Pokot County.
The security officers from the unit Administration Police Stock Theft Prevention Unit came together with civilians to take part in games for the aim of community policing. Administration Police for specialized Stock Theft Prevention Unit Kenya Commandant Mr.  Crispers Mutali said they aim to promote sports in the force and build relationships in the community they serve through community policing. “Sports will improve service delivery, enable them to be active, disciplined and desist from drinking and taking drugs,” said Mutali.
Mr. Mutali observed that they will work with the warring communities by involving reformed warriors through mediation and negations so that they shun engaging in retrogressive practices like cattle rustling. “We are doing this as public safety to discourage young people from engaging in crime but involving themselves in sports instead,” he said.
The commandant said security officers will form a strong team of Kenya Police service athletics championship which will go to the finals at Moi International Kasarani stadium.
He said the activity which is done yearly will bring players will compete with other services like Kenya Defense Forces, Kenya Prisons, guest players and civilians who later represent the country internationally.
