Senate speaker Ken Lusaka has revealed the Senate operations will be taken to Counties in an effort to familiarize Kenyans with its operations and deal with issues first hand. Speaking in Nandi, Lusaka said they’ll move out of Nairobi and head to the grassroots, “In September we’ll have a sitting in Eldoret, and we’ll go around the Counties. The residents will understand what the Senate does,” he said.
He said they’ll talk to residents to know the problems they face at the grass root and the issues raised will be discussed by the Senators. “We stand for devolution and we want to know the challenges faced at the grass root level,” he said.
He further urged leaders to respect Presidency and the Deputy President to enable them to serve Kenyans, adding that the political season is over, “We should now focus on the agenda of building the nation.” Lusaka also called for working unity between the national and County governments, given that the administrative units all serve Kenyans.
