Residents of Kiungani village in Trans Nzoia County were shocked after they found a middle aged woman murdered in a maize plantation.
The body was found by the watchman guarding the farm, the watchman said he sensed something wrong when he noticed footprints and some maize that had been destroyed on the farm.
He keenly followed the footprints that led to where the dead body was lying and raised alarm.
When the residents arrived at the scene, they confessed to have seen the deceased with a male counterpart a few minutes before she was found dead.
According to the residents, such incidents are on the rise in that area and want police officers to be more vigilant to avoid such killings.
Speaking to the press, human rights activists James Wanambisi confirmed that the deceased was a resident of Tongaren in Bungoma County and was last seen with a male counterpart saying the deceased might have been killed by the man.
Wanambisi called on the residents to be on alert and embrace Nyumba Kumi initiative to help report and bring to book all the law breakers.
“We cannot allow such malicious acts in this area anymore, I therefore urge you all to embrace the Nyumba kumi initiative because it’s the only way we are going to single out strangers amongst us.” said Wanambisi.
