Mr. Solomon Gichira has pulled out of the presidential race to support President Uhuru Kenyatta. According to Mr. Gichira, his initial decision to vie for the Presidential seat was arrived at after having the view that Kenyans needed to have a wide range of Presidential candidate options.
He said that IEBC frustrated his efforts to establish his candidature,” I faithfully sought to meet all necessary requirements but IEBC didn’t accept my documents,” he said. The independent candidate had presented his documents for verification before IEBC, but they were rejected.
However, Gichira said that if any violence should erupt in the general elections, then he would solely blame IEBC for failing to act professionally and from a neutral point, adding that no one should interfere with the polls, “Only Kenyans should decide who becomes President.”
