A Form three student at Chetambe village, Mahanga sub location in Matete district overdosed himself to death after turning mad abruptly under mysterious circumstance.
According to the area Sub Chief, Mr. John Wamalwa, before poisoning himself to death on Thursday afternoon, the deceased identified as Kennedy Omanje, aged 17, had abruptly gone berserk the morning of the same day.
“Upon waking up in the morning the boy astonished his family, relatives and the community by behaving crazily,” said Wamalwa, adding that the boy stormed into his step mother’s house where she roughed her up before doing the same to their immediate neighbor seriously injuring them.
Wamalwa told West FM villagers rescued the injured step mother and neighbour and the boy before rushing the three to Webuye District Hospital where the latter was given painkiller drugs.
“However upon reaching home, the boy swallowed all the drugs at ago leading to further complications,” added the local administrator.
The boy who was a student at St. Charles Lwanga Koromaiti Secondary was rushed to Lugari Sub County Hospital where he was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment.
The deceased father, Mr. Charles Omanje, was yet to come to terms with the son’s sudden madness, “because since his childhood we have never spotted any signs of madness on him,” said the father.
The body was transferred to Chebaiywa Hospital mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County.
