Trans Nzoia County Workers’ Union official Eliud Nabiyimba has reiterated that the County workers haven’t realized the fruits of devolution as the County government hasn’t heeded their plight, adding that the County government hasn’t catered for their salary increment. “The pay we used to receive during the previous regime is still intact until today there has been no increment,” he said.
Speaking during the Labour Day celebrations in Trans Nzoia, he said there have been no promotions for County workers for te past six years and the arrears the administartion owes them haven’t been cleared.
His sentiments were echoed by Samuel Kiboi who said some workers have worked for a long period but there positions haven’t been confirmed, due to negligence from the County administration. He claimed that the executive is manipulating the public service board, hampering integral service delivery in the process.
However, Public Service CEC Claire Namenge assured workers of a thorough overhaul and attention to matters affecting County workers and promised to work hand in hand with Union leaders to address any grievances. “I understand you’ve been working in harsh environments but I pledge to work with the unions to solve any issues,” she said.
