Vihiga gubernatorial aspirant Yusuf Chanzu has blamed the County government for offering flimsy services to the residents despite getting over Kshs 10 billion for development from the national government.
Chanzu said area governor Moses Akaranga has failed to initiate projects that are beneficial to the residents who are still living in abject poverty.
“The County government has been unsuccessful in prioritizing sustainable projects that are aimed at alleviating poverty among our people,” said Chanzu.
He said the County government had given a wide berth in health, education and road sectors which are still in a deteriorating state and need to be improved.
“The devolved unit was received with better expectations but the County government led by Akaranga has not succeeded in improving the lives of the locals,” said Chanzu.
Chanzu who is a long time critic of area Governor said he will trounce the incumbent in the August polls because his current government has been linked with many financial scandals.
“The County government has misused our paltry resources and engaged in many corrupt deals that ought to be investigated by the anti-corruption agency,” said Chanzu.
However, Governor Akaranga has distanced himself from such scandals and said that his political nemeses are out to spoil his name to get political mileage.
Chanzu, who was speaking at Kegoye in Vihiga Sub County as he wooed voters to support his bid, said his government will be corrupt free once elected as governor. “I will organize 25 meetings in the whole County to rally support for my bid and the Governor should be prepared to vacate office. I will not tolerate corruption in my new government,” added Chanzu.
