Four Computers and a projector were last night stolen at County commissioner’s offices in Vihiga County.
The computers belonged to the departments of health, gender, technical training and National lands commission.
The civil servants in those departments were shocked when they found out that the machines were missing in their offices.
According to County Police Coordinating Commander Elisha Odhiambo who confirmed the incident said no doors were broken into by the alleged thieves.
“We are very surprised that the doors were never vandalized and the alleged thieves had an easy access to the offices,” said Odhiambo.
He said the investigative agency have launched an inquiry into the matter and the Administration police guarding the offices have recorded statements together with other civil servants whose offices have been affected.
He also criticized the civil servants of reporting the matter which is a criminal case late to police for immediate action.
Odhiambo who was speaking to the press at his offices in Mbale town today added that the theft could have been well organized.
“We don’t want to speculate about the unpleasant incident. Let us leave it to the criminal investigation team to undertake the investigations,” said Odhiambo.
This third time, computers have been stolen at the Vihiga county government offices by unknown criminals.
