Civil Servants who work in Vihiga County Government and want to vie for political seats in the coming general election continue to hand in their resignation letters. By 7th February this year, every civil servant working for the government who intends to vie for a political position must have handed over his or her resignation.
Speaking to members of the public at Vihiga County Headquarter buildings, governor Moses Akaranga said servants working for his government who have political ambitions are rendering in their resignation letters.
“According to the law those who want political seats must resign and we have received a few resignation letters from them and we will continue doing so,” Akaranga said.
Those so far who have handed over their resignation letters are Musalia Edebe who was the Executive Member for Education, who intends to vie for the Sabatia Member of Parliament position.
Rhoda Mbandu, who was the Chief Officer for Industrialization Trade and Tourism, is going for the Vihiga County Women Representative seat, Begood Asenwa was a member of the County Public Service Board and is going to vie for Emuhaya Member of Parliament as the current MP Dr. Wilber Otichilo is eyeing the Vihiga gubernatorial seat, Tom Kisia, who was the Chief Officer in the Ministry of Water, Environment and Natural Resources, is vying for the Vihiga Constituency Member of Parliament seat as the incumbent Yusuf Chanzu is running for gubernatorial seat.
“I want those left behind who have political ambitions to hand in their resignation on time, given that we want to move forward,” Akaranga said.
The county boss said the positions left vacant will soon be replaced, saying competent people will take over the positions.
