Vihiga governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo will on Tuesday address the County assembly for the first time. The assembly will be officially opened on Tuesday at 2.30pm. The Governor is expected to make his key address to the House and he is expected to state clearly his agenda for the County for the next five years.
The 38 County Assembly members were in Mombasa since last Sunday for an induction exercise and were back yesterday as preparations get underway.
The MCAs proceeded to Mombasa after electing the Speaker and her deputy during their first sitting last week. Nairobi lawyer Hasna Mudeizi was elected as the first woman Speaker with Shiru MCA Nixon Butiya winning the Deputy Speaker’s seat.
Assembly’s Legal Counsel Shera Didi said the only business of the day during the opening of the House will be Governor’s speech. “Members will have 14 days to discuss the speech by Governor,” Didi explained, “On that day he is expected to outline to the House his development agenda for Vihiga people and this will form a basis for discussion by members for 14 days as required by the law.”
