Vihiga MP Yusuf Chanzu has refuted claims that he will sack County government employees once elected as the area Governor. He said word going round that he will dismiss a section of employees hired by the area Governor Moses Akaranga is a ploy being used by his political distracters to curtail his bid for the coveted seat.
“I am aware that some people are spreading rumours that I will sack some people who were hired by the Governor. This is a total lie aimed at derailing my ambition of becoming the area governor,” said Chanzu.
The MP said that he respects all the County employees and will ensure that casuals are absorbed in the system to offer quality and efficient services to the people.
He, however, noted that some civil servants who had been hired by the County government have no requisite skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
“Our people have a right to work but those who don’t meet the job qualifications will be redeployed for efficient service delivery,” said Chanzu.
The Vihiga MP who was speaking at a local hotel in Hamisi Sub County said he will strongly focus on creating a lean, efficient and responsive government that is geared towards improving the livelihoods of residents.
Chanzu added that he will provide a road map to revamping key sectors like agriculture, health, water, education, trade and commerce through increased funding and partnership with various stakeholders.
