Vihiga Senator George Khaniri has defected from United Democratic forum (UDF) to Amani National Congress party (ANC) led by Musalia Mudavadi.
He said this is after a long discussion with Raila Odinga whom he said had allowed him to champion his favourite political path since the two leaders had vowed to work together.
“My main intention was to see these two gentlemen work together. Now that they are united, I have boarded the bus that will ensure we kick out jubilee government under National super alliance (NASA),” said Khaniri.
In an event organized by the area senator at Municipal grounds in Mbale town to sensitize residents about voter registration, Khaniri said he would seek to be re-elected under ANC ticket during august 8 polls.
The senator said that he wanted to help Musalia Mudavadi in advocating for Luhya unity and ensuring that they clinch the presidency under NASA. “We will work all day and night to ensure that jubilee government which has impoverished our people and ruined our economy is sent packing come next elections,” said Khaniri.
He was received by party leader Musalia Mudavadi and deputy leader and former Cherengany MP Kipruto Arap Kirwa.
The senator, Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi, Vihiga MP Yusuf Chanzu and several MCAs also endorsed Musalia Mudavadi as their presidential candidate in the august 8 polls to champion the community interest.
He said Jubilee had lost support among Kenyans and the country has now been ranked as the fourth most corrupt country in East Africa.
