Youths who are going to be used by politicians in Vihiga County to cause chaos and distraction of property during NASA demonstrations have been warned. The area County Commissioner Alex Nkoyo said those who are going to be used by politicians to create disturbance will be dealt with accordingly.
Speaking during Mashujaa day celebrations at Vihiga Municipal Grounds at Mbale town he took a hard stand on the issue saying youth have been used by some politicians in the area to create havoc.
He mentioned an incident where youths attacked motorists that were ferrying locals to a rally that was presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto at Hamisi stadium in Vihiga.
“We were surprised some youths attacked some motorists that were carrying jubilee supporters to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s function and we are not going to allow that. Those who will be used by bent politicians in this County to create disturbances during demonstrations will be arrested and face the law,” he said.
He assured residents that there will be tight security on the voting day, urging them to go and exercise their democratic right peacefully.
“There will be enough security in each of the polling stations in the County, and am calling upon the locals to go and vote peacefully without causing disturbance,” he said.
Area Governor Dr. Wilber Otichilo assured the security agencies in the County that the NASA demos will be peaceful adding that those who will be involved in unlawful acts will be dealt with.
“We want to assure security organs in the region that our demonstrations will be peaceful and we will not entertain those bent to cause chaos,” Otichilo said.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Special Programs Josephta Mukobe urged those who will not vote to stay home instead of creating disturbance at the polling stations.
“It’s someone democratic right to participate in the exercise, those who will not be voting should stay away instead of creating chaos,” she said.
