Dan Sitati Wanyama retains his Webuye West parliamentary seat with 14,925 votes on Jubilee ticket beating 14 other contestants. Addressing the press shortly after receiving his certificate from Webuye West Returning Officer Mr. Etyang, Wanyama thanked all Webuye West residents for believing in him and elected him for the second term and promised to work hard and deliver for them.
“I just lack words to express my sincere gratitude to my people, thanks for having trust in me and giving me this chance again as your MP. All these was due to my track records that I have done for the last four years,” said Wanyama
He added that his victory was not his alone but for the people of Webuye West where he cited that majority worked hard to ensure that he retains his seat. Therefore he urged them to give him support as he is set to serve them without discriminating any region of the constituency.
“This is our victory because everyone sacrificed for it, let us work together and make Webuye West a great constituency, all I need is your support and I promise to serve each and every one of you looking beyond party differences” he cited
Wanyama urged all his opponents to come together and give him support in the next five years.
“Let all my opponents support me in this journey and work together for the better of our constituency,” he stated
Webuye West parliamentary seat had 15 contestants including; Jonathan Kane Barasa who got 670 votes, Kelly Walubengo 1,643 votes, George Khaoya got 149 votes, Vitalis Musebe had 273 votes, Martin Musungu had 262 Roselinder Simiyu 1,433, Peter Sitati had 8,288, John Musundi got 6,279 votes, Philip Wamoto had 507, John Wanjala 446, Kennedy Wanjala Mkombozi got 1,017, Charles Wanyonyi got 337, Oliver Wakoli had 431 and Maurice Wekesa got 241 votes.
Webuye West had 50, 699 registered voters in four wards including Bokoli ward which has 12, 697 voters, Sitikho ward has 10, 854 voters, Matulo ward has 14,712 voters and Misikhu ward has a total of 12,203 voters.
In Misikhu ward Robert Mwembe of Jubilee lost to Miliah Masungo of Ford Kenya who got 4,625 votes, Matulo ward Paul Wanyonyi retained his seat on Jubilee ticket with 3,761 votes, in Bokoli ward Jack Kawa of Ford Kenya retained his seat where he garnered 3,232 voters and in Sitikho ward Martin Wawire of ODM lost to Grace Sundukwa of Ford Kenya who got 2,856 votes.
