West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has officially unveiled his cabinet after the names of the County Executive Members forwarded were approved by the County assembly. Governor Lonyangapuo unveiled the cabinet that comprises of seven men and three women based on their qualifications and work experience.
The CECs who were sworn in by the acting County secretary Dr. Michael Parklea are Dr. Nicholas Owon Atudonyang-Health and sanitation, and will also double up as the Deputy Governor, Francis Kitawiyan-Finance and Economic Planning, Luka Chepelion-Roads, Public Works, Transport and Infrastructure, Augustine Monges Lotodo-Trade, Cooperatives, Industrialization.
Others include Ruth Chepkoech Kisabit–Public service and ICT, Joel Arumonyang–Lands, Housing, Physical and Urban planning, Christine Apokoreng–Education and Technical training, Emmy Chepoisyo-Tourism, Culture, Youth, Sports, Gender and Social services, Jackson Mnangat Yaralima-Water, Environment and Natural resources, Geoffrey Lipale-Pastoral economy, Agriculture and Irrigation.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony in Kapenguria, Governor Lonyangapuo reiterated that the team is qualified and has vast experience to take the County to the next level.
He urged the officers to deliver services to locals in the County with honesty, warning them not to engage in corruption and misuse of public funds.
“I don’t want any officer to swindle and embezzle public funds. I will not condone corruption and laziness in my government. You shouldn’t consider yourselves special just because you are a CEC,” he said.
The Governor said that the County will conduct a head count in all ministries to do away with many ghost workers in the County.
“We have realized that we have many ghost workers here and we shall lay off those who were employed during the campaign period,” he said. The West Pokot Governor added that he has advertised the positions of County administrators.
The ceremony was also attended by County assembly Speaker Catherine Mukenyang, Members of County Assembly and national government officers.
