It was a relief to people living with disabilities from several places in Bungoma County after wheels for the world foundation from Britain in association with Inter-Christian Fellowship Evangelical Ministries (ICFEM) donated wheelchairs to them.
Rob Dalton, one of the coordinators of wheels for the world Foundation, said they resorted to helping people living with disabilities so as to help them lead a stable life same to other people in the society, saying everyone was created in God’s image and likeness.
He called upon the beneficiaries to take good care of the wheelchairs, adding that in Bungoma County, a total of 137 residents will benefit and are also working with other organizations in Eldoret who have also identified people living with disabilities who will benefit.
“A wheelchair can give them dignity and help them be able to move from one place to another rather than being carried and also have them feel comfortable,” he said.
Mr. Patrick Biboko in charge of Mercy and Justice department in the ICFEM mission said they took the time to observe the beneficiaries across the County saying most of them were going through a rough time in life due to their condition and hadn’t got any assistance.
He added that as a mission they are focused on helping the disabled in the society and through their workers, they were able to identify those in need and have given them wheelchairs, saying that their lives will be transformed.
He disclosed that also those who are born with various deformities are also treated for free at Dreamland hospital and called upon parents who have such children not to hide them, but to instead let them be helped by the experts.
Mr. Biboko, however, called upon the County government to also chip in to help the disabled in the society to access financial support to start up development projects same as other groups in the society.
One of the beneficiaries Boaz Mukanda from Misikhu thanked the mission and the foundation for the donation saying it will help him move from one place to another.
