Youths have been called upon to keep away from the tendencies of being used by rogue politicians to cause chaos and disruption of peace but instead be on the front-line to preach peace especially now that elections are near.
Several youths from Bungoma county have come together under the banner, Bungoma Youth Peace Forum for Peace, to form an initiative that will enlighten their peers on the need to remain focused and create a positive impact to the society.

The group chairman, Caleb Wanyonyi from Tongaren Sub County, said that the youth always fall victims of rogue politicians who use them for their personal gains during the election period.
He urged leaders of the region to empower the youth economically so that they can do their own projects and contribute to the county’s economy.
He further challenged the youth who are capable of vying for elective seats in the country to run for them saying it is an open a window of opportunity for youths in the society to be able to showcase their capabilities leadership capabilities.
The group treasurer Emmanuel Wakasala from Bumula said that with the many kitties available from the County as well as the national government, politicians should be able to sensitize the youth to apply for them and start development projects at the grass root level.
His sentiments were echoed by the group secretary Pracxidis Wafula, who urged youths to register companies to be able to qualify to apply for tenders from the County government saying that the thirty per cent of the tenders that has been set aside for women and youths.
Other members of the initiative namely, Benjamin Wanyama and Wallace Butaki urged youths to be innovative so as to be self reliant saying they should not depend fully on the government and politicians to provide job opportunities for them.
They disclosed that they will be traversing the whole County to hold forums with the youth and enlighten them on the need of peaceful co existence ahead of the next general election.
