A ten year old boy from Kiwanja Ndege village, Lugari sub location in Lugari Sub County died after falling from a tree inside Lugari forest.
According to the deceased’s grandfather Tom Anduvate, his grandson Abel Kangahi left to fetch firewood from the forest in company of his elder brother and friends when the tragedy occurred.
He said the young boy who is a grade four pupil at Kiwanja Ndege primary school had climbed one of the trees to break some of the dried branches when he slipped and fell.
“The brother came back to inform of the incident and I immediately rushed to the scene where I found my grandson lying on the ground surrounded by his helpless friends, he told me he was feeling serious pain in the chest,” said the grandfather.
He said he rushed him to a private hospital at the Lugari station market where he was given First Aid before being referred to Chekalini health center where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
“He suffered a fractured chest and we suspect he had serious internal bleeding leading to his death,” said Mr. Anduvate.
