National Assembly 11 member select committee has started hearing of the motion to remove Agriculture and Livestock Development CS Mithika Linturi from office against allegations over the fake fertilizer scandal.
The motion for his removal was submitted by Bumula MP Wanami Wamboka after complaints from farmers who purchased the subsidized fertilizer.
On Thursday, May 2, 149 MPs voted in favor of the motion, 36 rejected and 3 abstained.
The committee comprises six MPs from Kenya Kwanza, four from Azimio and one from Jubilee.
The committee has ten days to submit their report to the National Assembly.
Bumula MP is accusing CS Linturi over gross misconduct, gross violation of the Constitution or any other law, serious reasons to believe the CS has committed a crime under national law.
The 11 member committee is chaired by Marsabit Woman Rep Naomi Waqo.
