It’s now official that Lugari Constituency will present twelve parliamentary candidates during the forthcoming elections.
This is after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) cleared them.
According to the Lugari Constituency Returning Officer Mr. Jeremiah Kerich all the candidates who presented their papers to the Commission from the area were cleared.
He revealed that among those who will contest for the seat include Nabii Daraja Nabwera of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Alex Atingo vying on Amani National Congress (ANC), Isaac GM Andabwa of Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), Brian Munika Liseche of United Democratic Party ( UDP), Charles Tunga of United Democratic Alliance (UDA), James Luchivia of Safina and Jairus Omaya of Party of Democratic Unity (PDU).
Others include Joseph Ogonyo Obura, Patrick Lihanda, Edgar Agonya, Phelemon Otindo, and Henry Shitanda who are all vying on an independent ticket.
On County representation, he said a total of 80 candidates had been cleared to vie for positions in the six wards in the area.
He disclosed that Lugari ward has the highest number after a total of twenty candidates were cleared to vie for the Member of County Assembly seat, with Chekalini registering 14, Chevaywa 13, Lwandeti 12, Mautuma 11 and Lumakanda 10 MCA candidates.
Kerich has appealed for peaceful campaigns urging all candidates to stick to their campaign schedule and ensure they adhere to the electoral laws.
