A somber mood has engulfed Mufutu village in Lugari sub location, Lugari sub county after a 13 year old boy drowned in river Nzoia. According to the deceased’s uncle Emmanuel Bulinda, his nephew MacDonald Kisaina had gone to bath in the river when he met his death.
He said the boy had spent the day looking after cattle with his friends and after taking the animals back home he went to take bath in the river at about 6pm before he drowned. The boy decided to swim across the river to the neighbouring Bungoma County but when he was returning he was overwhelmed by water and drowned.
The family has eulogized the standard six pupil as a hardworking and bright child who was always among top three pupils in class.
Local divers managed to retrieve the body from the river as the family requested to be allowed to bury him without further investigations, saying they have no complaints.
