A somber mood has engulfed Ebenezer village in Moi’s bridge location at the border of Kakamega and Uasin Gishu Counties following the defiling and brutal murder of a 13-year-old girl.
According to the deceased’s mother Mrs. Caroline Naliaka, who is a vegetable vendor at Moi’s bridge market, she had sent her daughter Lucy Wanjiro to sell the vegetables when she met her death.
Naliaka said when not in school, her daughter who is a standard six pupil at Moi’s bridge Township Primary School usually helps her to sell vegetables to her customers within the village.
She said her daughter left home early in the morning to sell vegetables and returned at about 10 am after selling all of them.
She then picked another batch of vegetables and left but she never return until 5 pm when the mother received news of her murder.
“Our chief came with police officers to my home and told me they had found a body resembling my daughter’s dumped on the road, I couldn’t believe them but on reaching Moi’s bridge I almost fainted after seeing my daughter’s body which had serious visible injuries on her private parts,” explained Naliaka.
The body was then taken to Kitale hospital mortuary as police launched investigations into the incident.
Residents have appealed for justice noting that this was a third incident to occur in the area in a span of less than one year.
