AFC Leopards has unveiled Betway as its shirt sponsor for a tune of Ksh. 30M for a period of the next three years.
The deal also includes Ksh. 5M for kitty and branding the team bus. The club will also have an option to get a co-sponsor.
The unveiling exercise was done on Tuesday 2 February at the Nyayo National Stadium as from 0900 hours in the presence of three members of the club’s Interim Management Committee and Betway Marketing officer Anthony Prissman.
“We are happy to sponsor AFC Leopards for three years. We will not reveal the amount because we do not want to inconvenience Leopards when they seek other deals.” Prissman said.
“It has taken us time to negotiate with Betway before we signed. It is not for selfish interest. We want to make Leopards self sustaining, Mathew’s Opwora,” the club’s chairman said.
Alongside Opwora, the club’s Secretary General Maurice Osundwa and his deputy Suleiman Angulu were present.
The KPL giants have for two seasons now been grappling with financial difficulties and from the outset, perhaps the only issue they will have to deal with going forward will be the infighting among the club’s managers.
The financial stress the club has been through starting late in 2014 saw a huge number of top players leave the team in search of better prospects and with a fresh financial injection, the expectation is that the team will regain its position among the giants after finishing seventh last season and sixth the season before.
