Vihiga County Referral Hospital management board members have been sworn in to spearhead the provision of quality health services to residents.
The eight member committee will help in the management of the hospital and offer advice to the county government concerning health issues.
Area governor Moses Akaranga said the names of the members have been gazetted and they are legally in the board to oversee the activities of the facility.

“You have enormous task ahead. You have to give your wealth of experience to the board for provision of excellent quality health services to our people,” said Akaranga.
He said the board should emphasize on quality public service delivery by triggering the workforce at the facility to realize their objectives.
“Most residents have complained about poor services at the facility. Concentrate on service delivery even with meager resources,” said Akaranga.
Akaranga asked the board to tour the facility and hold its first meeting in a bid to reduce suffering among the patients.
County assembly Chief Whip Abdalla Chogo said they did not slash money allocated to health sector in the supplementary budget to improve health services at the county’s hospitals.
“For best medication at the referral hospital, the assembly will strive to allocate more funds to the sector come next financial year,” said Chogo.
The swearing in took place at governor’s board room in Mbale town and was attended by Abdalla Chogo (Chief whip) and executive committee member for health Zilpa Kageha.
