United Democratic Party (UDP) leader, Cyrus Jirongo, has promised his opponents a bruising battle for the presidential election in 2017.

Speaking at a church fundraiser at Kongoni in Likuyani, Jirongo said he was much prepared to traverse the breadth and length of the country seeking votes, enough to propel him to the highest seat on the land.J

irongo caused laughter when he said he was ready to spoil his 30 years hard earned wealth as he takes head-on President Uhuru Kenyatta and any other serious contender for the presidential seat in the next general elections.

“I am telling my supporters not to worry because I’m very much prepared to wrestle this seat from Uhuru Kenyatta. In case Uhuru will use 100 helicopters for his campaigns, I’m assuring you I will also release the same number during my pre-election campaigns for 2017 presidential seat,” said Jirongo.

The UDP leader castigated some leading politicians from the former western province whom he chided for having selfishly gone in bed with the Jubilee administration in exchange for favours at the expense of the community.

The visibly agitated Jirongo singled out Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa, Musikari Kombo and Dr. Noah Wekesa as among the people behind the present woes facing embattled Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula.

“Our brothers, Wamalwa, Kombo and Dr. Wekesa have stooped too low to the point of accepting to be Jubilee coalition’s spanner boys who will play dirty politics in western region on its behalf,” said Jirongo.

“The three sycophants have already demonstrated this by sacrificing our own Moses Wetangula in exchange for plum jobs,” added the hard-hitting former Lugari legislator who was flanked by Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale and area MP, Dr. Enoch Kibunguchy.

Jirongo dismissed as cheap propaganda claims doing round that he was working on behalf of Deputy President, William Ruto.

“Between Ruto and me, who has enough money to lend the other?” he posed, pointing out that it was the deputy president who can borrow money from him, but not the other way round.

He appealed to members of Luhya community to rally behind him as he continues to assembly his 2017 team, which has so far attracted some key figures from western including Khalwale and Kibunguchy.
