Parents have been urged to take their children to Early Childhood Development (ECD) schools as it is a firm foundation for children’s education.

Peter Nyikuri, Officer in charge of ECD education in Bungoma County said this during a graduation ceremony for pre-primary pupils joining standard one next year at Bungoma DEB primary school,
The officer noted that the beginning years of a child’s life are critical for building the early foundation needed for success in school and in life.
“Learning is a continuous process and as a parent, you have the responsibility to make sure that your kid is in school and he or she is learning in a good environment. Nyikuri said.
“It is an offence to keep a child that has attained the age of attending school at home. Please take your kids to school.” He added.
Nyikuri promised that the County government of Bungoma will support the school management to ensure students achieve good education.
Bungoma DEB primary school headmaster Tobias Khisa, supported Nyikuri’s sentiments saying ECD is a firm foundation for the children’s education.
He said children who attend these programs are more likely to do well in school, find good jobs, and succeed in their careers than those who don’t.
In addition, Khisa urged parents to be responsible and vigilant in ensuring that their kids are safe during this rainy season.
