Bungoma governor launch road in Kimilili
Business and transport activities received a major boost in Kimilili town after Bungoma County Governor Kenneth Makelo Lusaka launched a County funded project Makaburini – bus park road constructed at a cost of Ksh. 66 million.
Addressing residents after the official launch Lusaka said as the first governor of Bungoma County he is focused on delivering on the mandate he promised the people of Bungoma county saying in the Kimilili spatial plan tarmacking of roads was one of the needs and he will make sure they are rehabilitated.
However he called upon the Kimilili administration together with the stakeholders in the public service sector to make sure the vehicles use the bus park as a point of collecting passengers saying after the completion of the road it has made it easy for access as well as provided an alternative route in and out of the park.
“Proper use of the bus park will spur business which will in turn help boost revenue collection for Bungoma County as with the street light in place business will be conducted until late in the night to help business people acquire enough profit to change their livelihood” he said
On the other hand Lusaka expressed his disappointment with the contractor working on rehabilitating the Kimilili – Machinjoni – Mkulima road saying he has done a shoddy work and even failed to complete the work on time saying he has given an ultimatum of one week or else he will revoke the contract.
Governor Lusaka asked leaders to focus on development oriented issues rather than focusing on divisive politics saying the forth coming general election is nearing and the people of Bungoma County will be ready to gauge what those they voted in delivered on their mandate.
He added that parties are like denominations saying followers belong to different churches of their own choice but in the end they always look forward to meet in heaven which is the same in politics as people have a right to choose the party they want to support hopeful of ending up in power.
Lusaka was accompanied by transport CEC Stephen Nendela, transport chief officer Hubert Kibunguchi, Public Administration chief officer David Kibiti among others who called upon the residents to support the leadership of governor Ken Lusaka to achieve development.
