Nick Mwendwa is the new Kenya football president

Kariobangi Sharks Chair Nick Mwendwa is the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chairman after he polled 50 of a possible 77 votes in elections held at the Kasarani Annex in the afternoon of Wednesday 10 February, 2016.
Mwendwa become the 14th football boss in Independent Kenya after taking down his closest challenger Ambrose Rachier who polled 27 votes.
Mwendwa won the polls by simple majority to end the contest in just the first round as provided in the constitution.
Former football boss Sam Nyamweya pulled out of the race just before the race and received no votes in the exercise as his name still remained on the ballot.
Sammy Sholei who did not show up at the polling venue as well as Gor Semelang’o and Ssemi Aina all polled zero votes.

The Presidential vote tallying was to take place at the very end after all tallying of eight regional elections as well as that of the Vice President.
However, on the request of the Cabinet Secretary for Arts, Culture and Sports Dr. Hasan Wario who was dashing for a function, the Presidential tallying came right after that of the Rift Valley count where David Gikaria assumed office after receiving 42 of a possible 77 votes.
Outgoing Rift Valley NEC Member Doris Petra won the Vice President seat.
For the second time of asking, Petra got 53 votes beating former Western branch Chairman Andrew Amukowa who managed zero votes while Dan Shikanda polled only one.
Petra, who formerly served as the FKF Leagues and Competitions Manager, was four votes shy of being the vice president at the close of the first round of voting polling 36 votes, four shy of a simple majority set at 40 forcing a re-run.
Amukowa had polled a respectable 21 votes to emerge second as former Gor and AFC Leopards striker Dr. Dan Shikanda ended up third with 13 votes, that happening in the first round.
As Nick Mwendwa ascended office as the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) members of his Team Change followed suit sweeping the boards to also come through as the new executives.
In Eastern, Nabea Muriithi took down outgoing Anjeline Mwikali 52 to 23 votes while Raphael Katana Mwalungo won the Coast seat by 44 to 19 votes of the outgoing Omar Mohammed.
In Nairobi, Chris Amimo floured outgoing Simon Mugo 31 to 12 votes, Joseph Kabanze came second with 23 while former Kenyan international Kenneth Ochieng’ Oliech got zero votes, one vote was rejected.
Down in Nyanza, Joseph Andere Oduor garnered 54 out of 77 beating his closest competitor Charles Birundu who got 23, Phillip Owuoti got zero votes, Andere takes over outgoing Tom Alila who did not vie.
In North Eastern, Mohammed Mula pocketed a massive 68 votes beating Said Dahir Djibril who got four while three were rejected.
Western outgoing Elly Julius Mukolwe was ejected out by Enos Tony Kweya who got 36 votes to eleven, that of Mukolwe who has been serving in the federation as the chair of Technical Committee.
Other contestants Dennis Munyendo, a former AFC Leopards player got 15 while Kolongolo boss Kizito Namulanda managed only 14 with none rejected.
In Central Kimani David Njoroge was declared the winner after garnering 47 votes beating George Wainaina who got 27 only.
