The unbeaten Leopards failed to extend their lead at the summit ahead of the two-week international break to drop second on 11 points.
Chemelil’s veteran midfielder Dennis Onkangi put his team ahead at the stroke of halftime before form Allan Kateregga equalized in the 62nd minute.
Leopards were sharp from the start but Chemilil went ahead after Dennis Okangi heading home Willis Ouma’s cross at the stroke of halftime.

Ingwe’s Allan Kateregga had been a thorn in Chemelil’s flesh from the start of the encounter. He almost scored on the 11thminute but his shot went wide above the bar.
At the restart, Kateregga was all over the pitch fetching the ball from all corners, forcing Chemelil to hold back and waste time by falling anyhow in the pitch. Kateregga’s intention to score was seen three minutes from the breather when he slightly lost control over Eugine Ambulwa’s cross.
15 minutes later, Miheso drove a thunderous shot which forced keeper Samuel Odhiambo to punch it back to the field only to land on goal-hunting Kateregga’s swift right foot who drilled in a powerful shot past the keeper for Ingwe’s equalizer.
Mathare United won their game against Thika United seeing them having equal points with AFC Leopards but driving at the top of the table on goal-difference. Ingwe is now second.
Obadiah Ndege scored the lone goal for Mathare at the 70th minute to cost Thika United 3 points, Tusker FC came from behind twice to salvage a point in their 2-2 draw against Ushuru in Machakos.
Musa Mudde was on target to hand GOtv Shield champions Bandari 1-0 win over hosts Sofapaka.
