Celebrations at Sang’s home following ICC ruling

Following the termination of a case by the International Criminals Court ICC against deputy president Wiliam Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang, sangs family held prayers at their home Seum village Kipkeikei location of Cherangany Sub County as a way of giving thanks to God.

Led by sangs father Elijah Kipsang Arap Keter, they thanked God for what happened yesterday when theICC terminated a case facing his son and Deputy President William Ruto terming it as a victory for the family and the rest of the village on which their son hails.

He said following a case that faced his son, they could not settle since their son has been jobless for the last seven years as a suspect.

He appealed to the Government to offer his son a job because he was a bread winner of the family and before he used to help them together with his family economically.

Mr. Keter said that finally God had answered their prayers since they were astonished following the allegations that were made against Sang who he described to be humble to commit such atrocities.

On her part, Mrs Emmy Keter, Sang’s mother told journalist that as a family they have forgiven all those who gave false testimony against their son, adding that for them they have moved forward and finally the truth has come to be known.

She said since she knew her son grew up as a God fearing person who could not even harm anyone and was perturbed by the way he was alleged to have committed the crimes against humanity.

Mrs. Keter also praised the lawyers who were defending both former journalist and the deputy president William Ruto for the work they did in Netherlands to ensure both were free.

“I thank our able lawyers especially Katwa Kirgen for the sterling job in his profession as a lawyer for standing with Sang all the way to end.” She said

She urged Kenyans to remain united as a nation and to preach peace without being divided because of political and tribal affiliations like the way it was in the past elections.

The neighbours who turned out in jubilation said they were happy that their son is free and they can continue with their normal businesses as usual unlike it has been before.

By the time we went to press plans were underway in preparation to welcome Joshua Arap at their home in Seum,Cheranga’ny constituency in Trans Nzoia county.

Elsewhere in Kitale town, residents took to the streets in celebration following the withdrawal of the case against Joshua Arap Sang’ and deputy president William Ruto.

Led by local businessmen and leaders, they took to the streets in a convoy making stopovers in town to address the residents while praising the decision made by the ICC.

Mr. James Wanyoike alias Mwanake urged residents to remain united since Trans Nzoia County is cosmopolitan and to continue praying for peace in whole republic.

On his part, Matumbei ward MCA Philip Sakong expressed his satisfaction with the ICC ruling saying that it will give humble time for the Jubilee government to deliver on their promises from their manifesto to Kenyans before the coming elections.
