Leaders condemn the Muliro Gardens ugly show
Mixed reactions have been elicited from various leaders from Kakamega county following the skirmishes witnessed during the launch of the Bungoma senator’s presidential bid at Kakamega’s Muliro Garden.
Two people were badly injured and are recuperating at the Kakamega county hospital. Though in a stable condition, one of the victims is still unconscious while the other has a swollen face and cannot speak as per now.
The two were victims of a mob justice at the event after they were suspected to have thrown teargas to disperse the crowd that had gathered to witness Wetangula’s launch.
Speaking during a fund raising event at Bushiangala church of God in Ikolomani, the Kakamega county governor Wycliffe Oparanya has cursed the yesterday’s incidences saying that leaders ought to bring the people together and not fight them.

Oparanya said that he didn’t attend the function yesterday because the Ford Kenya officials insisted that the event was a party affair and even chose to invite him as a guest yet it was hosted on his grounds.
He says that they held meetings with Senator Wetangula to agree to carry the day as CORD but the party leaders were adamant and thus had no option but to attend to his other issues.
The Ikolomani MP Benard Shinali said that the happenings was a clear indicator that CORD was not organized.
Shinali called upon Senator Wetangula to ensure that he treats those who got injured because his party members were behind.
He confessed that he was not invited by the senator to graze the occasion though he was on his way to the venue when learn t of the chaos and decided to keep off.
He added that CORD has given Jubilee coalition a better chance to woe western residents since they have shown that they are not ready for leadership.
The Butere MP Andrew Toboso who also said that he was not invited to the event blamed the chaos on poor planning.
Toboso said that most leaders from the region were not involved in the organization of the event and thus the failure.
He added that CORD as a coalition needs needs to strategize for them to stand and and build a candidate who will stand against the jubilee government come 2017.
“The coalition will be stronger if they will concentrate on one candidate as early as this.”Said Toboso.
Other leaders who were present and condemned the yesterday’s incidence besides claiming that they were not involved in the event included the Malava MP Maalulu Injendi, Navakholo MP Emanuel Wangwe and the Mumias East MP Ben Washiali.
