A somber mood has engulfed a family and residents of Nangili village in Webuye east following the death of a twenty two years old boy who was killed in cold blood by his sisters lover on Sunday night.
25 years old Hudson Wanyonyi stabbed to death 22 years old Martin Khaemba in his ‘Isimba’ traditional hut, after he went to the house to look for his sixteen years old sister who had disappeared from there home for three days.
Neighbor Jackson Wanjala said that he was in his house at around 9. AM when he heard the confrontation. He got out and heard the boy telling his father that he had killed a boy who had attacked him with his girlfriend.
He told journalists yesterday that Khaemba had gone to look for his sister Nelia Mutaki who is a class eight student at Muji primary school before he was stabbed several times in the stomach and on the chest.
“We heard of the noise before hearing shriek of someone in pain, only to find the young man lying down dead in a pool of blood on rushing at the scene,” he said.
The boy and his father who are said to originate from Ikolomani constituency in Kakakmega county disappeared after the act as angry residents wanted to lynch them.
The incident sparked animosity among the residents who attacked their homesteaded torching their two houses on fire and cutting down all the banana plantations in the homestead.
They accused the duo of coming to the area and causing bad things to the residents which had never been reported in the area.
“We are not happy because of this incident and we are appealing to the police to move with sped and arrest this boy whom we have been told is a dangerous boy,” said a resident Rosline Wangila.
Wangila cautioned residents from selling land to strange people who could be having a bad omen from where they came from.
The residents said that the lady had been having an affair with the boy for sometime but the parents had cautioned her against it.
Bungoma east police OCPD Isaac Odumbe confirmed the incident and said that they are holding Nelia at Webuye police station as they continue to search for Wanyonyi.
Odumbe called upon the residents to offer police with information that could lead to the arrest of Wanyonyi.
The police boss cautioned residents against taking action in their own hands by destroying culprits properties or lynching them but to surrender them to the police.
He said those who torched the suspects house and that of his father have already been known and police are searching for them.
