Medic urges regularly checking of sugar & pressure
Lugari Sub County Medical officer of Health Dr. Mike Ekisa has urged residents to regularly conduct medical checkups in order to curb cases of sudden deaths associated with blood pressure and diabetes in the area.
Expressing concern over increasing numbers, especially of the elderly persons, who have in the recent past succumbed to diabetes and cardiac arrest, the medic was optimistic the sorry trend could be checked if the residents frequented health facilities for regular checkups.
“I am passionately urging our people to boost their health standards by constantly checking individual sugar and pressure levels as well as receiving medical advice over the same at any of our health facilitates,” appealed the health official who encouraged them to be visiting the facilities at least once in a year.
Meanwhile, the sub county health boss has dispelled fears among area residents over the possibility of tuberculosis outbreak in the area saying the disease had been put under control not only in the sub county but the entire Kakamega county.
“In fact the number of people suffering from TB in the county has dropped drastically,” said doctor Ekisa.
A section of area residents had expressed fear over tuberculosis following the death of a middle aged man last week.
However, the doctor confirmed to West Media the deceased was not a case of tuberculosis.
