MP warns against brewing beer near schools
Kabuchai MP James Lusweti has urged chiefs and their assistants to take a lawful action against people who participate in beer brewing near schools.
He was speaking this while in Chekulo Baptist Secondary school in a fund raising for construction of classes in Kabuchai constituency where the principal complained of alcohol as a letdown in education in the school.
Lusweti said that such acts have affected education in some schools and made students and pupils become addicts of the same.
“If you know that you brew alcohol near schools within a distance of 300m square away please stop it because you will be arrested. Alcohol has resulted into poor performance and made students and pupils to also start drinking,” Lusweti said.
He warned the residents to stop that business and involve themselves in other businesses bearing in mind that there are funds allocated by national government and county government that can enable one take as a loan and use in any other business that is paying than beer brewing.
“There are funds allocated by national and county government which you can apply in form of loans, you will be given and use in profitable businesses than just involving yourself in beer brewing that will risk your lives because you may end up in jails,” he stated.
Politically Lusweti has urged leaders from Western to support Senator for Bungoma Moses Masika Wetangula in his presidential bid so as to take the leadership of the country.
“If we unite in Western as Luhya community we can produce a leader of the nation, therefore let us all support Bungoma’s senator in his presidential bid,” reiterated Lusweti.
