Quran to be translated into Wanga and Marama

The Quran will be translated into Wanga and Marama Luhya language dialects to be understood by majority of the Muslims believers in the region.

According to five Muslim scholars from western namely Yusuf Malala, Ramadhan Ndege, Ismail Were, Harun Musa and Ramadan Sebwa they would translate the Book into Wanga and Marama because they are the simplest dialects among the 18 sub tribes of the Luhya community.

“I felt the need to translate the Quran into the Luhya language because many do not understand its meaning as it is written in Arabic language not understood by many in the locality.”Said Harun Musa

“I discovered people don’t understand the Quran and my interest was to one day come up with a translation to my people and once are able to read the Holy Book in their own language, they will understand what Islam stands for.” He added.

Speaking during the launch of the translation at Mumias Jamia Mosque, the scholars said the translation will ease the understanding of the holy book and that both Muslims and Non Muslims from the community will understand its content

Kakamega county Kadhi Shaaban Abu Issah who also attended the ceremony urged Muslims scholars all over the world to translate the Qur’an into languages best understood by their communities.

The Islamic religion has been impute to criminal activities and regarded by some people who don’t understand it as dreadful which is contrary to its meaning of peace

Others present were, Bungoma Kadhi Kassim Ratori, Mumias Muslim Community chairman Ismail Muchelule and Mumias Jamia Mosque Imam Hamza Ismail.

Why the Quran is written in Arabic.

The Quran was sent to both the Arabs and to Mankind.  There are Verses in the Noble Quran where Allah Almighty explicitly talks to the Arabs and for the Arabs, and there are Noble Verses in the Noble Quran where Allah Almighty talks to Mankind and for Mankind.

Allah revealed in His Previous Scriptures unto His appointed Prophets in the language spoken by them and the people they were sent to.

Torah or Torati was revealed to Prophet Musa (A.S.) in the language spoken and understood by him and his people (i.e. Hebrew), The Injeel (Gospel) was revealed to Prophet Isa Ibn Mary am (A.S.) in the language spoken and understood by him and his people (i.e. Aramaic) and The Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohamed P.B.U.H in the Arabic language spoken and understood by him and the people he first addressed, i.e. The Arabs.

The mother-tongue or the native language of the Last and Final Messenger of Allah, Prophet Mohammed P.B.U.H, and the first addressees of the Glorious Quran was Arabic.

Thus it was only in accordance with the Sunnah or Way of The Lord Most Exalted to Reveal His Last and Final Message unto His Last and Final Messenger P.B.U.H in the language spoken and understood by His appointed Prophet P.B.U.H and the nation he was sent to guide.
