Raila and Oparanya blamed for Kakamega chaos
An ODM member of parliament has blamed Cord leader Raila Odinga and Kakamega governor Oparanya for being behind the teargas thrown during the Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula’s presidential bid launch on Saturday.
Kibunguchi the MP Likuyani constituency said that those who are key suspects in the disruption of the meeting were Oparanya and his ODM supporters who had been advised to do so by Raila.
”I want to condemn the act to the strongest terms because senior Luhya elders like mzee Burudi Nabwera was among the leaders who were affected by the teargass and they could have been hurt,” he said,
This comes even as Police have arrested Kakamega chief of staff Nabii Nabwire for being linked to the teargassing of the event.

He said that it was very disappointing for Raila to skip the meeting bearing in mind that it had been postponed severally for him to be able to attend it and offer support to his core principal in cord.
”We are almost killing each other because of leadership only what if it was an explosive that could have killed the leaders present and that is why we want police to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to book,” he said.
The legislature spoke to West Fm in Webuye town where he said that Jubilee also had a hand in the teargassing of the event.
He said that whoever threw the teargas must have been properly instructed and given the instructions on what to do.
Kibunguchi said that it was so childish and evil of Oparanya to try and disrupt the meeting when a Luhya person was being endorsed as presidential candidate.
”If you throw teargas where a lot of people are gathered including women and children who could easily be hurt can be very dangerous and as they say in the bible forgive we will only forgive them,” he said.
He said that the leaders lead to death that was unnecessary. The fracas left one person dead when undergoing treatment at the Kakamega General Hospital and another badly injured.
He said that in cord there is a lot of mistrust and witch hunt among the members that Wetangula needs to be cautious of.
”We want all the leaders and residents to support Wetangula’s bid bearing in mind that we are the ones with the highest number of voters in the cord coalition and we stand a high chance of being the flag bearer,” he said.
”As Luhyas we are happy because Wetangula is trying to bring Luhyas together the way the late former vice president Kijana Wamalwa did and we only pray that we may support him so that as we head to the next elections we as people of mulembe should be singing one song,’’ he said.
