Vihiga Referral Hospital employees rewarded
The Vihiga County Referral Hospital rewarded its best performing personnel and departments as County governor Moses Akaranga plans a merit increment to boost service delivery.
Akaranga said that his County government would factor in the budget funds for a salary increment to motivate staff in a bid to boost services at the facility.
“We have started rewarding our best performers and we have plans to factor in the budget their salary increment,” said Akaranga.

“The process will be applied to all other departments and ministries in the County,” added Akaranga.
Among the department awarded with certificates and trophies were the surgical, best overall staff, best clinician, best nutritionist, nurse of the year among others.
Meanwhile the hospital is under refurbishment and the whole exercise will go at cost Ksh. 26 million in upgrading its status.
“The Hospital has received part of the equipment’s from the National Government and we are still receiving others, “said Akaranga,”
The equipment’s delivered at the facility have already been installed and functional
The governor also hit out at critics who have been publicly lamenting over the deplorable services rendered at the facility.
Akaranga said the hospital’s powerful machinery will handle special cases that were earlier referred to other hospitals outside the County.
“We have now received high tech equipment’s to handle patients as we will no longer be transferring them to other hospitals,” added Akaranga.
The governor said that most of the counties have now received the machines.
