Gor & Sony sugar record wins in KPL battle
Gor Mahia beat Muhoroni Youth FC 2-0 in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match at Moi stadium Kisumu, to move up to position three on the table.
Both teams went to the game from positive results; Gor Mahia having edged past Bandari FC in Mombasa on Thursday 28 April while Muhoroni had outclassed Nairobi City Stars on the same day.

When the troops took to the field, the hosts started with more energy featuring George Blackberry Odhiambo in the very first minutes when he came very close only failing to beat Muhoroni defense for what could have been an opener.
In 7th minute, Blackberry picked a Khalid Aucho pass and without hesitating pushed it past Farouk Shikalo to give Gor the first goal.
Noble efforts from Eric Marcelo Ouma, Karim Nizigiyimana, Khalid Aucho, Innocent Wafula and Jacques Tuyisenge killed Wycliffe Ochomo’s venom in the first half.
Coming back from the tunnel, Muhoroni Youth were hopeful of an equalizer and this was evident in their style of play.
However, it was clear that Gor Mahia was still in need of more goals trying to create chances out of which one paid off on the 58th minute as Jacques Tuyisenge picked the ball from the midfield, went past defender Paul Muchika to shoot past keeper Farouk Shikalo for K’Ogalo’s final goal.
Elwhere Sony Sugar’s fight to move to the top got a major boost as they held their own to beat Sofapaka 1-0 at the Machakos Country Stadium with Sauel Oeino scoring the all impornat goal just before the break.
Chemelil Sugar and Bandari drew 1-1 at the Chemelil Complex while Nairobi City Stars and Ushuru battled to a barren draw at the Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani.
