Kakamega hospital receives new equipments
Kakamega County Referral Hospital has acquired a new face after receiving medical equipment worth millions of shillings in a bid to improve the treatment of patients at the facility.
The equipment includes CT scans, Magnetic Resonance Imaging machine and mammogram. Some of the old equipment has been replaced with sophisticated modern ones to conform to the latest standards.
According to the Kakamega County director of medical services Dr. David Oluoch, the hospital is expanding and they are determined to offer more services more so to residents.
He added that the County Government has contributed largely towards acquisition of the medical equipment, some of which are currently used while others like the CT scans will be used as soon as the allocated room will be completed in a month’s time.
The hospital matron Mrs. Everlyne Wafula said the hospital has also coordinated with the county government to acquire more nurses.
“The County government has been so supportive by including 100 nurses to add on what we had before to offer quality services,” she said.
She said more nurses will be trained on how to use the equipment with time.
Moreover, the hospital has undergone major renovations of its buildings, including a recently completed theater which is ready for use.
The acquired equipment rooms to suit the standards of referral hospitals across the country.
The hospital also boasts of a new tarmac constructed by the County Government which links the main gate to other departments such the accidents and surgery area.
Kakamega Hospital has been in the limelight for negative reasons with the recent being where the Kakamega First lady Mrs. Prisilla Oparanya visited the premises confirming complaints that the hospital is in a pathetic state with patients having no proper facilities even in the theater room.
