Luhya leaders condemn Jacob Juma’s Brutal killings
Leaders from the larger western region have condemned the brutal killing of a Nairobi based business man who is also a son from the land Jacob Juma by an armed gang that attacked him as he drove home Thursday night.
Speaking at Lirhembe primary school during the burial mass for former Ikolomani MP Seth Lugonzo, the former deputy prime minister Musalia Mudavadi who is also the Amani Demorcratic party leader said that it is the duty of the government to assure all its citizens’ security before anything else.
Mudavadi has asked the national government to tell Kenyans if they are working towards the era of assassinating Kenyans by the road side as it was years back.
He called upon the jubilee government to come clean and investigate and tell Kenyans who was behind the killings and who sponsored it.
The UDP party leader Cyrus Jirongo, speaking at the same vwnue accused the government of Kenya for killing Juma.
According to him, Juma had critical information about the Eurobond, he was well informed of the NYS scandle and the Weston Hotel and thus his killer is attached to either of the three.
Jirongo who has vowed never to support a murderous government has also called upon it to investigate and let Kenyans know the truth.
The Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale has asked the president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to do thorough investigations to reveal those behind Juma’s death saying that Juma’s spirit will remain to haunt Luhya leaders if those behind his death will not be brought to book.
He said that the late had complained of his life being in danger and had mentioned the deputy president among those who wanted him dead.
Khalwale has thus called upon deputy president William Ruto to break his silence on the death and further asked the public prosecutor Keriako Tobiko to summon the DP to record a statement and tell Kenyans what he knows about the killings.
This was supported by the Vihiga Senator George Khaniri who pointed fingers at the government calling upon them to take action or else face the same once outside government.
On IEBC
The leaders unanimously called for the disbandment of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries commission on grounds that Kenyans have lost faith in the commission.
Mudavadi said that the office bearers at IEBC ought to have left office long ago.
” Many have been asked to vacate office and allow for investigation including cabinet secretaries, how comes when it comes to IEBC double standards apply?” Asked Mudavadi.
He said that Kenyans have lost confidence in the commission and by them sticking in the office will not win the confidence back.
Mudavadi said that the commission is important since democracy is strengthened through the ballot.
He further called upon the residents to give him another chance to run for the top most sit. Mudavadi called upon the Luhya community to learn to have confidence in their leaders arguing that Luhya’s have not lost the bearing but need to stand firm and be clear on what they want since time is running out.
Supporting him, Jirongo argued that Kenya cannot go to the next election with the commission that people have lost confidence in and a punctured judiciary calling for a quick dissolvement of the two.
In politics, Jirongo said that to eliminate the ruling government the Luhya community plays a critical role since it has the numbers.
He called upon the residents to register for ID’s and as voters promising to work hand in hand with other leaders in achieving presidency come 2017.
The Vihiga county senator George Khaniri joined hands with the other leaders calling for dissolvement of IEBC, luhya unity and investigations into the death of Jacob Juma.
