School teacher stabbed to death over land dispute
Police in Bungoma west Sub County are in hot pursuit of a suspect who is alleged to have stabbed a secondary school teacher to death following a land dispute in Matisi B village, Malakisi location within Bungoma County.
Malakisi location Chief Protus Kutoro while confirming the incident said that the deceased teacher, Evans Wafula Wafukho sold land to the suspected killer by the name Abraham Sindani (35 years) and that he stabbed him to death when he went to demand his Ksh. 100 balance.
The chief said that they received information at 9.00pm Saturday night that the suspect had stabbed his neighbor with a knife and that they rushed to the scene only to find that the deceased had been rushed to the hospital by his family members for specialized treatment.
He said that the Machakha Secondary School teacher died while on the way to the hospital, adding that the suspect is at large and that police were working around the clock to see to it that he is nabbed for the ends of justice to the affected family.
He warned area residents to be wary of land buyers coming to the area looking for land, saying that the suspect who stabbed the teacher to death bought the land a few months ago.
He asked any buyer who is looking for land in the area to deposit his credentials to the relevant authorities in a bid to ascertain his past record and why he was looking for land at another place instead of his ancestral land.
However, Matisi B residents led by Mary Wangila demanded for answers from the police as to why the suspect had not been apprehended despite the fact that he is well known to them.
The residents demolished the house that the suspect had erected in the piece of land in dispute that he purchased from the deceased teacher and vowed to take action into their hands if police will not fat track the arrest of the said suspect in a bid to be brought to book.
